TRAVEL PROTOCOLS & POLICIES

  • All attendees must arrive in Panama City on Thursday, September 4th by 6:00 pm, in time for the Welcome Dinner. Plan your departure flights for no earlier than 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 7th. If you are doing the Travel & Learn from September 8th-10th, you must book your departure after 1:00 pm on September 10th.
  • Airfare bookings must be confirmed and sent to Ruth Aragón at raragon@kfla.org by August 8th to be eligible for reimbursement. Airline tickets purchased after this deadline will not be eligible for reimbursement if the airfare price is greater than the 21 day advance price.
  • To be eligible for the air travel reimbursement, attendees must be present for the entire event.
  • For those traveling by plane, KFLA will provide complimentary shuttle service between Tocumen International Airport and the hotel. KFLA will not reimburse for cab fares or other private transportation services to/from the airport or any other location.
  • For those traveling by bus, you will have to take a taxi from the bus station to the Aloft Hotel.
  • If you miss your flight, but know that you will be able to arrive at the Tocumen International Airport by 9:00 am on September 5th, please contact Martha Lee at mlee@kfla.org or call her VIBER number at (720) 252-7683 to arrange for pick up.
  • Attendees will depart from the Aloft Hotel in Panamá City to the Panama Canal on Friday, September 5th at 10:30 am by a private bus contracted directly by KFLA. The expected travel time is one hour. From the Panamá Canal, attendees will be transported to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort in the province of Colon for the duration of the forum.
  •  KFLA will only pay for your stay at these hotels from September 4th (check-in) to September 7th (check-out). If you wish to arrive earlier or stay later to visit Panamá, you will be responsible for hotel, food, and transportation expenses outside of the forum.
  • The event will officially end at 1:00 pm on Sunday. Plan your departure flights no earlier than 4:00 pm. Travel time from the hotel to the international airport is approximately 2 hours, and all international travelers must arrive 2 hours prior to departure time. Panamá does not have a departure tax.
  • Airfare reimbursement will be made in US Dollars at the end of the forum.

VISAS

  • Citizens of the following countries require a stamped visa to enter Panama:  Ecuador, Haiti, Perú, and Dominican Republic. You should contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date information or visa forms.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • Rooms will be double occupancy as an opportunity for fellows to network. If attendee is interested in a room of single occupancy, the attendee will be personally responsible for payment of the single room.
  • The Panamanian currency is the US dollar. NOTE: Because of counterfeit problems, some businesses in Panamá may not accept bills over US $20.
  • Tap water in Panamá City is safe to drink. However, in Gunayala (San Blas), it is advisable to buy drinking water.
  • Panamá is on Eastern Standard Time zone.
  • The average temperature in Panamá in September is around 30°C / 86°F throughout the month. Bring a hat and comfortable shoes for any Free Time.
  • For one of the plenaries, you will need a digital camera or phone camera to complete a project.
  • Appropriate dress for the forum is “business casual”.
  • This is a Fellows-Only event. Family and friends may not attend. They can join you after the event.

Registration - ($50)
Includes meals and a double occupancy hotel room during the event as well as ground transportation between venues and Tocumen International Airport

You pay the first $550 of your airfare, KFLA will cover any amount above $550 (up to a total reimbursment of $1,000).
