Kellogg Fellows and their networks walked over 64,000 miles. That is TWO times the equatorial circumference of the Earth!
Congratulations to the winner of KFLA’s First Annual “Let’s Walk” Competition and the $5,000 grant--Class KNFP-15!
First and foremost thank you! No, double thank you - to all the Kellogg Fellows that took part in our “Let’s Walk” Competition! Special kudos to all the Coaches who motivated their respective classes to participate and to our great tour guides, Dr. Kenneth Campbell (KNFP-14) on the Appalachian Trail; Dr. Robert Flores (KNFP-09) on the EL Camino Real; and Dr. Betty Overton (KNFP-09) on the Underground Railroad. If you have not taken a look at these great vignettes created by these tour guides, please do so now.
Ten Kellogg Fellow classes took the challenge and incorporated walking into their daily lives. Because of the hard work and extremely competitive nature of our Fellows, KFLA is awarding the next two classes with $1000 grants. Congratulations to KNFP-13 and KNFP-08 for your hard work and sweat and helping raise awareness around the importance of walking.
The first goal of this competition was to encourage our Fellows to utilize the new KFLA Community and increase communications and connections within our network. The second and most important goal was to increase physical activity in our daily lives. This also allowed our Fellows to participate in the conversation of walkable communities and the need to have more safe places to walk.
Keep your eyes open for details on the 2015 "Let’s Walk" Competition. Until then, keep on walking!
