Biography

I have been with CDC for 5 years as an Evaluator and 3 weeks ago I accepted a Behavioral Scientist position with CDC-Global AIDS Program. I am currently coordinating the Prevention of Mother to Child activities as they relate to Monitoring and Evaluation. Before accepting this position, I used to work at CDC- Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP) where I spent 3 years working in the field of program evaluation. I was the lead for an evaluation capacity building project which lasted 21/2 years and some of the products included: a manual illustrating the "how to" of program evaluation to STD program staff, a number of evaluation studies (implementation analysis and outcome evaluation), an evaluation Technical Assistance (TA) system, multiple trainings, and the development of manuscripts. I also provided TA to states, cities, territories and Indian Nations funded by DSTDP on different evaluation activities (logic modeling, evaluation design, instrument development, data collection/analysis), collaborated in the evaluation of STD/HIV behavioral studies, and was involved in international activities pertaining to monitoring and evaluation design, and participatory and empowerment evaluation. In addition, I worked for a year at CDC-Division of Adolescent and School Health where I was the lead for program evaluation activities pertaining to chronic diseases and lead a division wide workgroup to systematize evaluation capacity efforts among funded-partners. Before coming to CDC, I completed the WK Kellogg Community Scholars fellowship, which has been one of the greatest professional experiences I have had. I met individuals fully committed to CBPR and the stakeholders represented.
