Biography

Derek is an emerging leader who serves as director of educational equity and inclusion at Alcorn State University, the oldest historically black public land-grant university in the nation. He has a dynamic personality and a powerful story about navigating diversity as a white man at a Historically Black University (HBCU) in Mississippi, which he shares frequently as a motivational speaker. Derek is dedicated to building an inclusive campus climate that values the contributions of every student and finding ways to connect with others while building on their interests and skills.
