Maria Felix was able to complete high school despite adversity in her family. She has proven to break paradigms about the role of women at work as being a remarkable female leader in her community. She worked for UCIRED (Network Indigenous Rural University) as a community animator, responsible of 25 groups in the municipality of Tixcacalcupul. Additionally, she has promoted sustainable agriculture in the villages of Chan Santa Cruz, San Nicolas and Tankuche of the State of Campeche. She is currently interested in developing an organic farming project in her community sponsored by El Hombre sobre la Tierra A.C.
