Biography

Glenna is the founding principal of Media Arts Collaborative Charter School (MACCS), the first State-authorized charter school located in Albuquerque. Serving grades 6-12, MACCS offers students a project-based, cross-curricular education that is centered in the media arts. Having created an award-winning Super 8mm film about the Women’s Liberation Movement and working as a photographer, Glenna sees training in media arts essential for students to build skills that will lead to future job opportunities. Because media is such a powerful vehicle for creativity, self-expression and change, Glenna’s current passion focuses on providing students with a familiar venue (film, audio, animation, TV, art) in which their creativity can raise awareness to address the issues they face within their lives. Glenna has a commitment to supporting young people by providing them innovative educational opportunities that help to empower them as advocates for change within their communities and for their future.
