Biography

Maritza del Carmen Yeh Chan was born in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, State of Quintana Roo, Maritza holds a technical degree in tourism. She belongs to the Maya ethnic group and has worked as a translator in different projects for the National Council for Educational Development and the Sian Ka´an biosphere reserve. Maritza has participated in several workshops about topics such as gender, education, and linguistic. In 2006, Maritza obtained a special award in the Oratory Contest in indigenous language organized by the State of Quintana Roo.
