Biography

Andrea Campetella is the Director of Communications and Planning at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. In that capacity, Andrea oversees communications between the School of Social Work and various constituencies, including alumni, students, donors, and the general public. Andrea also assists the Dean in planning and implementing initiatives at the local, national, and international levels. Andrea has a BA in sociology from the National University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, an MA in sociology from the New School for Social Research in New York City, and a PhD in Latin American history from Rutgers University, New Jersey. She started her career teaching and conducting research about Latin America to then shift towards program development and communications. Prior to moving to Austin, she was the Acting Director of the Center for Latino Family Research at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. At the center, Andrea oversaw the implementation of federally funded research projects about Latinos in the United States, expanded the center’s outreach into the local community, and was in charge of communications.
