Biography
Evangelos A. Petropoulos, M.D., Ph.D., Director Emeritus of the MSU Institute of International Health, is a physician and a professor of physiology with 29 years' experience working in international health. His experience ranges from medical education, curriculum reform, health care management and evaluation to basic science research, especially in the area of reproductive endocrinology, rat brain development under adverse environmental conditions (e.g., high altitude, sensory stimuli, endocrine stimuli). Dr. Petropoulos has long-term experience in Africa (15 years in Zimbabwe) and in Eastern European countries (1990-to date). On December 31, 2002, Dr. Petropoulos retired from the leadership of the IIH and became Professor and Director Emeritus. He continues with IIH as an adjunct professor and close advisor to the IIH's leadership.
