Biography

Mark Langseth is President and CEO of "I Have a Dream" Foundation - Oregon, whose mission is to help low-income kids succeed in school, college and career. With impressive board leadership and Mark's guidance, "I Have a Dream" Oregon has recently created a first-of-its-kind Dreamer School model in Portland that holds great promise as a demonstration project to boost educational results for low-income kids pre-K through college throughout Oregon. Mark's past positions include Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Foundation at Metropolitan State University, Assistant Vice President for Development at Portland State University, Founding Executive Director of Minnesota Campus Compact, and COO at the National Youth Leadership Council. Mark is a former W.K. Kellogg Foundation Leadership Fellow and is the author of several publications, including co-editing with Dr. William Plater a 2005 book entitled Public Work and the Academy: An Academic Administrator's Guide to Service-Learning. Mark has served on numerous education and nonprofit boards and committees during his career, including his current role as a board member with the Nonprofit Association of Oregon and College Possible-Portland. He is a passionate advocate for education, and is proud husband to Kate, a community college instructor, and proud father to Tess, 19, a sophomore at Occidental College and Teagan,15, a freshman at Tigard High School. Mark is also grateful for his proximity to Oregon wine country and for his little beach shack on the Oregon coast.
