Biography

Loni Kemp is a Policy Analyst at Kemp Consulting, an independent consulting firm that advises on agriculture, renewable energy, conservation and climate change. Clients include the Natural Resources Defense Council, Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA), National Wildlife Federation, National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, Union of Concerned Scientists, Energy Foundation, Walton Family Foundation, and the McKnight Foundation. From her rural Canton, MN, office, she specializes in research, analysis, policy development, communications, strategic planning and organizational leadership. Kemp was Senior Policy Analyst at the Minnesota Project for nearly thirty years, where she directed the agriculture and water program. She was a founding board member of the National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture, the Sustainable Agriculture Coalition and the Midwest Sustainable Agriculture Working Group, now all merged into the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. The Kellogg Foundation awarded Kemp a Food and Society Policy Fellowship from 2002-2004. Kemp holds a Masters degree from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelors degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. She gardens and hikes with her husband in their woods.
