Biography

Magda Bogin, KNFP-7, is a novelist, translator and librettist currently working on several literary projects and an opera. She divides her time between New York and Mexico, where she runs Under the Volcano, a program of literary master classes that convenes every January in the village of Tepoztlán, in the (alas, drug-ravaged) state of Morelos, just outside Mexico City. She also provides online coaching to people with books in progress or seeking help with the shape of an idea they plan to turn into a longer work. She works every fall at the United Nations in New York, where she translates from French, Spanish and Russian into English for the General Assembly and Security Council. She is currently helping to spearhead TepozRampas, a project in her villlage that seeks to make the unforgiving streets of Tepoztlán a model of accessibility and welcomes thoughts from fellows (besides Susan Sygall!) who have experience with multi-faceted projects that involve both governement and civil society, infrastructure and awareness.
