Biography

Education Ph.D., University of Tennessee; M.A., B.S., University of Arkansas Research Interests Breast cancer screening and education; health disparities and solutions; health education and health promotion among underserved populations and the faith-based community Background Dr. Belin has spent more than 15 years developing, implementing, and evaluating health behavioral research projects and health initiatives among underserved populations and the faith-based community. She implemented Tennessee’s first breast cancer education project designed with and for African-American women: “Witnessing in Tennessee.” Due to the overwhelming acceptance and success of the project, a component for African-American men was developed focusing on prostate cancer screening and education. Dr. Belin is a faculty member in the School of Health Sciences where she teaches health education and health promotion courses in the Ph.D. programs.
