Biography

Ann C. Baker, PhD is Professor Emerita of the Schar School Policy and Government at George Mason University (GMU) in Arlington, VA. At GMU she taught in six masters program and a PhD program and served as the Director of the Masters in Organization Development & Knowledge Management program and as the Senior Associate Dean of the School of Public Policy. Prior to joining GMU, Dr. Baker received a three-year Leadership Development Fellowship from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for International Leaders of the Future. Dr. Baker's research interests include creating systemic organizational change, cross cultural communication and collaboration, conflict and change as catalytic sources of learning and innovation and group dynamics. She is the author of numerous publications related to her research interests. She published her second book, Catalytic Conversations: Organizational Communication and Innovation, in 2010. Her previous book, Conversational Learning: An Experiential Approach to Knowledge Creation, was published in 2002. Her areas of expertise include organizational change, cross cultural conversation and dialogue, group dynamics, tapping into tacit and explicit knowledge in groups and organizations as resources for organizational learning, creating new understanding, and creating new knowledge, and virtual conversations.
