Biography

Carlotta M. Arthur, Ph.D. is Director of the Clare Boothe Luce Program, one of the nation’s most significant sources of private support for women in STEM higher education, at the Henry Luce Foundation. Previously, she was Director of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program and Diversity Initiatives Program Officer at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Carlotta is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and owner of Tranquility Psychological Services PLLC, a social entrepreneurial behavioral health and stress management practice. Her scholarly work focuses on psychological stress and health; and mental health, including stigma and disparities, among members of the African Diaspora in the U.S. and Anglophone Caribbean. Dr. Arthur received a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Purdue University and worked for nearly a decade as an engineer in the aerospace and automotive industries. She earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (Health Psychology/Psychophysiology specialty) from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and is a New York State Licensed Psychologist. Carlotta was a member of the inaugural cohort of W.K. Kellogg Scholars in Health Disparities at the Harvard School of Public Health.
