Biography

David Altman, Ph.D., is Chief Operating Officer of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), a global non-profit organization with offices throughout the world (www.ccl.org). He is based at CCL headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina USA. He currently oversees global P&L, IT, Leadership Solutions/Knowledge Management, Digital Learning and Operations. Prior to this role, he spent four years as CCL’s EVP and Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa region and was based in Brussels, Belgium. Before that, he spent nine years as CCL’s EVP of Research, Innovation and Product Development. Before joining CCL, he worked for 20 years in academic medical centers. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine and his B.A. in psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is Adjunct Prof at Wake Forest University. From 1995-2010, he was National Program Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Substance Abuse Policy Research Program. From 2008-2012, he was Co-National Program Director of the RWJF Ladder to Leadership Program. Since 2010, he has served as Co-Program Director of the RWJF Executive Nurse Fellows Program. In 1997, he was selected as one of 40 Americans for the three year W.K. Kellogg Foundation National Leadership Program. He rode his bicycle from California to North Carolina to raise public awareness about hunger and endowment funding for an international hunger relief organization. He is a Fellow in three divisions of the American Psychological Association and a member of the Society of Public Health Education and Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research.
