Focus for 2016:
Martha Lee
Invitation
for Involvement
Letter from Martha Lee

We are delighted to share that KFLA received a one year grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation! This grant supports our national network of Foundation fellows in advancing a child centered agenda by providing:

  • collaborative learning opportunities, resources, and strategic advocacy actions
  • planned integration of new Fellows into the existing network
  • concrete opportunities to explore how the Kellogg fellows network can support the goals of the Foundation.

In 2016, we invite you to participate in a series of gatherings focused on advancing a child centered agenda through a variety of lenses – rural , immigration, food security, First Nation – each of these gatherings will take place between now and October. Your voice and participation in these gatherings provides opportunities to lead joint collaborative opportunities alongside your fellow Fellows.

This past autumn, 30 Kellogg women gathered with Undersecretary General of the United Nations, Phumzile Mlambo to discuss ways that the Kellogg network could be of support to her goals for the Office of Women and Girls. I am happy to report that we are working on a couple of deliverables to engage in with her and her team. Keep an eye out for this development and an invitation to be part of this collaboration.

The calendar of events for the upcoming programs is in this newsletter. Let us know if you want to be part of any of these programs.

Mark your calendars for October 6th-9th for the 6th Forum in Denver, Colorado.

Travel & Learn opportunities are open again. Evelyn HuDeHart, KNFP-05, is leading a trip to Cuba this July and due to popular demand, she’ll lead a second trip in January 2017. In addition, Angelina Martínez (KPFL-01), Coordinator of the Ecotourism agency, Expediciones Sierra Norte, will be leading the Travel & Learn to Oaxaca in June 12th-18th, 2016 conducted in Spanish.

As we enter the Year of the Monkey in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, I invite you to use 2016 as a year filled with possibility, enterprise and progress. We are aiming to make this year even more special by nurturing your talents and collaborations.

Wishing you all the energy and opportunity of the Monkey year,

Martha
