Biography

Janice Levy is Professor in the Cinema and Photography Department at Ithaca College, Ithaca, New York, where she has taught photography since 1987. An acclaimed photographer, her work has been exhibited internationally at museums and galleries and has been published widely in textbooks and magazines. Professor Levy is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and a Light Work Grant. She is a 1992 recipient of the National Kellogg Fellowship Award. Under the auspices of the fellowship, Levy traveled extensively. She developed a relationship with the island nation of Madagascar that has resulted in six extended visits and two significant bodies of work.
