Biography

Dr. Carol Kramer-LeBlanc, KNFP-11, is currently a consultant active in international agricultural economic development, food security and enhancing human and institutional capacity development, particularly through partnerships between U.S. and developing country universities and other institutions. Before June 2012, Kramer-LeBlanc served in the U.S. Department of Agriculture for over 20 years, most recently as Director for Sustainable Development in U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of the Chief Economist. In that role she elevated consideration of sustainability in the operations of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as through interagency work in the U.S. Government involving U.S. Agency for International Development, the Department of State, and other agencies. She also represented the USDA at the United Nations, especially the Commission on Sustainable Development in NYC. She is a member of the board of directors of CATIE in Costa Rica. Recent consulting includes a study for the U.S. Agency for International Development commissioned by the Board on Food and Agricultural Development related to collaborative research in support of Feed the Future; and a second study regarding methods and models for enhancing human and institutional capacity development among developing country universities. Kramer-LeBlanc has over 30 years of professional experience. She has a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in agricultural economics.
