Biography

Joanne Handy is the Immediate Past President and CEO of LeadingAge California. Prior to this, she was President of the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston, the nation's Oldest and one of its largest voluntary agencies. She is the former President of the Goldman Institute on Aging, and affiliate of the University of California San Francisco, known for its pioneering work in developing community-based services for older adults. her background includes additional management experience in home care, hospice, hospital administration, and outpatient services. She is currently Chair of the Board of Trinity Continuing Care, part of one of the largest health care systems in the U.S. She is a past chair of the American Society on Aging (ASA), the largest gerontological professional organization in the U.S. She was recognized with the ASA President's Award in 2015, one of their highest honors. She was a Kellogg International Leadership Fellow from 1990-93 and is the author of several publications spanning the areas of geriatrics, home care, management and marketing. Joanne currently is a consultant in strategic planning and business development for aging services, home care and hospice providers.
