Biography

Dr. Stephanie Ann Farquhar is an Affiliate Professor at University of Washington School of Public Health, Department of Health Services and a Senior Social Research Scientist at Public Health - Seattle King County Health Department. Dr. Farquhar draws from the principles of community-based participatory research to address issues of social and environmental equity as it relates to health. In partnership with community organizations and agencies, Dr. Farquhar co-leads research evaluations of grants funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJ), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She is currently a co-investigator on a NIH project that seeks to reduce pesticides exposure and occupational stressors among indigenous farmworkers in Oregon and Washington, and is PI of an RWJF project assessing the health-related effects of Yesler Terrace redevelopment in Seattle, WA. Dr. Farquhar served as President on the Board of Directors of Community-Campus Partnerships for Health, and as a commissioner on the city/county Sustainable Development Commission. She has taught Foundations of Public Health, Health Promotion Program Planning, Community Organizing, Community-based Participatory Research Methods, and Health Impact Assessment.
