Biography

James Elkins began law teaching at DePaul University in 1975, and joined the faculty at West Virginia University in 1977. He has held visiting appointments at the University of Kentucky, Washington & Lee, and in the Department of Legal Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His teaching now focuses on lawyers in literature and film, and how we read literary and film texts to educate ourselves as lawyers and understand the broader meaning of our professional lives. Elkins also teaches criminal law.
