Biography

Ms. Acevedo is President, Owner and CEO of Research Management Consultants, Inc. (RMCI) a nationwide $10 million information technology services and environmental engineering firm. She currently serves on the Boards of the Colorado Ballet, Communications Consortium Media Center, Project PAVE, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Kellogg Fellows Leadership Alliance and the School of American Ballet. She has served on the Boards of the Committee of 200, the National Women's Business Council, the U.S. Air Force Women Owned Business Council, the Small Business Administration's National Advisory Council, Forum on the Future of Regis University (Technology Task Force), Advisory Council for School-to-Work Opportunities (Departments of Labor and Education), Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and the Governor's Renewable Energy Task Force (Colorado). She has received numerous awards including the l993 "Entrepreneur of the Year: Minority Owned Business-Greater Washington, D.C." (Given by Ernst and Young, Merrill Lynch, Washington Business Journal and Inc); "Minority Small Business Person of the Year Award" given by the U.S. Small Business Administration, Los Angeles District, for 1990. She also received the FAA Administrator's "Woman-Owned Business Enterprise Award" by the Federal Aviation Administration for 1990 and 1991. In 1997 she was cited as one of the "100 Most Influential Hispanics" by Hispanic Business and a Rocky Mountain Girl Scouts USA "Woman of Distinction". Ms. Acevedo incorporated her firm, RMCI, in 1987 and has expanded it to one of the most successful Hispanic owned firms in the U.S. In 1998 and 1999 RMCI was selected for Working Woman's America's Top 500 Women-Owned Businesses. RMCI achieved recognition as #20 of Washington Technology's Fast 50 in 1994 -the fastest growing high technology firms in the Washington, D.C. area.
