Biography

My name is Mothusi Ntseme, a leader in African development, a man of God through faith, and an environmentalist by profession. I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Environmental Science obtained from the University of Botswana in 2002 and 2007 respectively. I am grateful to the KSAL programme for transforming my academic and social life in a positive way. In 2006, I was self-sponsored pursuing my Master’s and needed funds to conduct my research. Through a friend I learned about the Kellogg Foundation Dissertation Awards, applied and was accepted. I am indebted to many people who positively influenced my life during the KSAL programme. Prof. Mbigi’s lessons were not only informative but also practical. Among other lessons learned during the leadership programme were research skills, community ploughback, Ubuntu, personal branding and leadership qualities. I successfully completed my dissertation as a result of the research skills attained during the KSAL training. The programme further enhanced my competency in the areas of leadership, communication, presentation, and interacting with people. I am a profound leader with good standing in my family, community, work place and at church and these have been made possible by the KSAL programme. I have made friends and networked with Fellows from various disciplines and in the SADC region. I am currently working for the government of Botswana as an environmentalist. I am involved in various government projects that demand both time and commitment to service. All these need a leader with good standing and I am proud to say, I am that leader because of the KSAL programme. I look forward to living the KSAL objectives. No better words can express my gratitude to the programme but all I can say is that “it is more blessed to give than to receive”. KSAL is blessed for all I received from the programme and now it is my turn to give back to the community. God bless KSAL.
