Biography

Dr. Davyda Hammond is a Professor of Engineering at Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg, VA. Dr. Hammond obtained her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering with a focus on air pollution control from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed two years of postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan, School of Public Health on using community-based participatory research methods to improve the environmental health of Detroit residents. Dr. Hammond also holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Irvine and Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, respectively. Dr. Hammond has taught several environmental education courses in the past. She is passionate about increasing the environmental consciousness of the average person, and, in particular, increasing excitement among historically under-represented students in pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics (STEM).
