Biography

Rochelle “Rocky” Von Eye earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees from South Dakota State University in mathematics and computer science, and her doctorate is from University of South Dakota. Dr. Von Eye has been at DWU since 1984, teaching courses in computer science and mathematics. She has also been assistant academic dean and acting vice president for academic affairs. Rocky became the Provost of Dakota Wesleyan University in June of 2013. Rocky's passion is service and mission work and has traveled to Africa, the Dominican Republic and many locations within the United States to take part in mission and service projects. Rocky has also worked on several 'Habitat for Humanities' homes in the Mitchell, South Dakota area. Her passion is helping people who find themselves homeless and hopeless within her community and region. Dr. Von Eye has received the Presidential Award for Excellence in mathematics teaching, and a Kellogg National Leadership Fellowship. Rocky is now involved in service work within her communities of Plankinton and Mitchell, SD. She works with the Mitchell Animal Shelter, fostering the newborn kittens. Rocky serves on the board of the animal shelter in Mitchell. As a regular volunteer at Blessings Repeated, Rocky assists the less fortunate in the Plankinton community. She also assists at the safe house in Mitchell by providing clothes and food/household material for the Somali people who arrive at the shelter with nothing. Rocky also continues assisting with leadership training at Dakota Wesleyan University.
