Biography

Bruce Ross began his service with the Food and Drug Administration as the FDA Country Director (India) in August 2008. Prior to his deployment to Mexico as the Deputy Regional Director for the Latin America Region in June of 2013, Bruce was the India Country Director for four years, helping to establish FDA's presence there interacting and collaborating with government and industry counterparts. He brings a wide-range of U.S. Government and international public health experience having previously served for almost two decades in six different countries. During this time, Bruce worked for the FDA at headquarters (2008-2009) as the Acting Director of the Asia, Africa and Capacity-building Office before his assignment in India (2009-2013); with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), as the Health Attach̩ in Beijing, China 2006-2008; with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as the Associate Director for Operations in Bangkok, Thailand 2002-2006 and in Kampala, Uganda 2000-2002; on detail to the Carter Center's Global 2000 Guinea Worm Eradication Program as the Resident Technical Advisor for south Sudan, based in Nairobi, Kenya, 1998-2000; and on detail with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Regional Mission for Central Asia, as CDC's Deputy Director, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan 1995-1998. In addition to the international work with the U.S. government described above, Bruce has been a Presidential Management Fellow with the Centers for Disease Control (1990-1992). He was in the initial cohort of the Kellogg International Leadership Program (1990-1993) working on community health issues in immigrant populations in the Atlanta (DeKalb country) area.
