Biography

Personal Website: http://www.petercrollins.com/index.html Education: Harvard B.A. 1963; Harvard Ph.D. 1972. US Marine Officer in Vietnam in between. Very much concerned since 1968 with the impact of visual media on the perception of public issues and have worked through teaching, writing, and filmmaking to address this challenge. During the 1980s, made two TV shows on "Television's Vietnam," and they were shown on PBS and on WTBS. Most recently, capped my research with THE COLUMBIA COMPANION TO AMERICAN HISTORY ON FILM (2003), the culmination of ten years of effort; the book has been positively reviewed in a variety of publications, to include Publisher's Weekly and Choice Magazine. Provided treatment for the theatrically distributed film entitled CONFRONTING IRAQ (2005), an attempted answer to Michael Moore's documentary/propaganda film on the war and its impact. Currently looking for: 1. A place to establish our journal as I contemplate retirement. Film & History has, now that it is on line, approximately 1.5 million potential readers. It needs a home and a new Editor-in-Chief. 2. Film projects to keep me busy and creative. The Kellogg National Leadership Program was an invaluable experience which changed my life and has daily implications for my work as a teacher, editor, filmmaker, and citizen. I am most grateful for the opportunity!
