Biography

Richard Fite is Chief, Risk Analysis for the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. He spent 2010 in Afghanistan as an agricultural advisor with the International Security Assistance Force. He is also a volunteer trip leader for the Sierra Club National Outings Program and has led perhaps 30 backpack trips, mostly in northern Arizona and southern Utah. He lives in southeastern NH in a 100-year-old farmhouse with his wife, Karen. Richard's interests include hiking, bicycling, kayaking, photography, classical music (French horn, cornet, recorder), international development, agriculture, risk assessment, sanitary and phytosanitary regulation, Afghanistan, Africa.
