Biography

The Honorable Timothy Ross Everett is an Immigration Judge with the U.S. Department of Justice and currently presides at the Immigration Court sitting in Los Angeles, California. On May 3, 2013, Attorney General Eric Holder appointed Judge Everett to the bench as an Immigration Judge. He served in that capacity at the Immigration Court sitting in Adelanto, California, from May 2013 until October 2016, at which time he was transferred to the Los Angeles Immigration Court. Prior to his appointment, Judge Everett served as Assistant Chief Counsel for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from April 2009 until April 2013. Before beginning government service in law, Judge Everett worked as a solo practitioner in the Los Angeles area from January 2000 until March 2009. He began his legal career by working with various immigrant rights groups in the 1990s in both defensive litigation and community education in Los Angeles, California, and in the Washington, D.C., area. He is currently an active member of the State Bar of California. In 1986, he earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Tulane Law School together with a Masters of Arts degree from Tulane Graduate School. In 2000, he earned a Master of Studies in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School. He served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Guatemala and in Costa Rica. He resides with his wife Jeannette in Pasadena, California. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, swimming, photography, gardening, and travel.
