Biography

Dr. Espino is Medical Director of the San Antonio State Supported Living Center, part of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Prior to this, he was Vice Chair, professor of family medicine and geriatrics and Chief of the Division of Community Geriatrics in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Espino completed his family medicine residency at Spohn- Memorial in Corpus Christi and a geriatrics fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He holds a certificate of added qualifications in geriatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Geriatrics Society. Dr. Espino has authored over 120 publications and has served on numerous national panels including the Mental Disorders of Aging Review Panel of the National Institute of Mental Health, an advisor to the Department of Health and Human Services Consensus Panel on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders and appointed by President Clinton to serve on the National Advisory Council of the National Institute on Aging. He is listed in the year 2001 edition of Who's Who in America and the 2001 edition of Who's Who in the World.
