Biography

Rev. Duggan is the President and Founder of Abundant Communities Together and Senior Pastor of the Congregational Church of South Hempstead, United Church of Christ. ACT helps congregations and nonprofit organizations launch revenue generating economic and development initiatives. Most recently, ACT convened 120 clergy from 48 denominations to discuss ways church leaders can create jobs and investment through sustainable agriculture and green energy initiatives. From 2004 to 2009, Rev. Duggan was the Nassau County Deputy County Executive for Economic Development, overseeing $170 million in planning, transportation, housing, community & economic development programs for a county of 1.35 million residents. He came to this position after serving more than 5 years as the first executive director of Sustainable Long Island, a regional nonprofit organization which promotes sustainable development. Rev. Duggan's involvement in sustainable economic development on Long Island is an extension of his 25 years of leadership as an executive, fundraiser, and consultant in the social sector. Rev. Duggan's membership in Group XIII of the Kellogg National Fellowship Program gave him an international perspective on community and regional economic development. He earned the Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University in 1980 and the Master of Divinity degree from the New York Theological Seminary in 1993. He and his wife Patricia are the parents of three son; two adults and one adolescent. Rev.
