Biography

Alfredo De Avila, KNLP-11 is semi-retired, providing consultation services in community organizing, campaign development to low-income communities of color. I am a board member of Transnational Institute for Grassroots Research and Action and provide in behalf of TIGRA I provide consultation services to our inter-national partners in the area of economic development. I was an organizer working with farm workers movement for over 18 years, first with NFWA -United Farm Workers, then with The Texas Farm Workers Union. Began working as Community Organizing Trainer and Campaign Consultant in 1985 first with the Center for Third World Organizing, Then the Applied Research Center – RaceForward. I have consulted on following issues, health. Housing, education, environment, law- enforcement, worker rights and immigration. Currently employed by League of Conservation Voters - Chispa Program as a campaign specialist, working on the health impact of diesel school buses on children.
