Biography

Author of numerous articles on public speaking, political communication, global education and leadership development, Dr. Dean serves as Chairperson and Director of the Honors College at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and holds the rank of Professor of Communication Studies. He has held leadership positions on the campus Curriculum Committee for over two decades. A Kellogg Group XIV Fellow, led the redesign of the University's Honors curriculum to mirror the Kellogg National Fellowship Program. He has delivered presentations on leadership and communication at universities in South Africa, Russia, China, Scotland, Australia, the Netherlands, Norway and England. Dean earned the University's Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award and, since 2001, has led groups of students, involving over 250, in conducting ethnographic research in South Africa. He advises the Honors Student Association (an organization now over 200 members) and the University's chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa.
