Biography

Gordon Blood has been a member of the faculty since 1985, promoted to Full Professor in 1992, and Department Head of Communication Sciences and Disorders since 1994. Under his leadership, the Department has earned a national reputation and ranked as one of the top departments in the country. It is the number one ranked program in Augmentative and Alternative Communication in the region. Dr. Blood, a former Lilly Teaching Fellow and Kellogg National Leadership Fellow helped spearhead the Board Recognition Specialty Certification in Fluency Disorders for the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) He was recognized as ASHA Fellow in 1993. He co-authored "Best Practices and Guidelines for Practice" for ASHA and presented his research worldwide at more than 250 conferences and colloquies.He has published more than 85 refereed publications, developed a Summer Intensive Therapy Program for Adolescents and Adults who Stutter, and serves on numerous editorial review boards. His has received numerous university and national awards for his teaching excellence. Dr. Blood has received uninterrupted major external grants from federal agencies in the form of research/training grants since 1995. He continues to share his work worldwide working in Ireland, Costa Rica, and Israel during the last 18 months. He currently is involved in projects examining the impact of bullying and aggressive behavior toward children with disabilities. He and his wife, Ingrid Blood, have two adult sons, Ryan and Eric.
