Biography

Dr. Jim Amell is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Social Work at the University of MInnesota Duluth. Prior to this, Dr. Amell was an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work at Colorado State University (CSU). Jim has over seven years of direct practice experience including program coordination, social service delivery and case management, individual and group counseling, as well as health education. Dr. Amell’s research interests center on the investigation of social inequalities and adult mental health/health outcomes and the intersection of sociological, psychological, and economic factors that influence the well-being of men including race, socioeconomic status, social supports, and social capital.
