Biography

Micah is an Associate Professor of Agricultural economics. He has a PhD in Agricultural Economics with a major in Agribusiness Management from the University of Pretoria, SA; an MSc (Agricultural Economics) from Ohio State University, USA; a BSc (Agriculture) and Diploma (Agricultural Education) from the University of Swaziland. Micah worked as an agriculture instructor at the Manzini Industrial Training Centre and (MITC) and Nhlangano Agricultural Skills Training Centre (NASTIC), before joining the University of Swaziland as a Teaching Assistant in 1994. As a Teaching Assistant, Micah was required to pursue studies leading to MSc. It was at this time that he applied and successfully got funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to pursue his MSc in 1995 to 1997. His MSc Thesis was on “The attitude and loyalty of farmers towards cooperatives in the State of Ohio”. After successfully completing his MSc, Micah was then appointed a Lecturer in Department of Agricultural Economics and Management at the University of Swaziland. In 1999 Micah started his PhD studies with the University of Pretoria. Whilst studying he was also working as a Research Assistant at the Post Graduate School. It was during his PhD studies that Micah got a Dissertation award from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in 2001, which assisted him to conduct and complete his PhD Thesis. His PhD thesis was on “The role of contractual relationships in the performance of supply chains: The case of the sugar industry in Swaziland”. Upon completing his PhD in 2003, Micah re-joined the University of Swaziland as a Lecturer.
