Biography

Leroy is a community organizer and facilitator with a focus on racial reconciliation, healing and equity. He has been involved in transformative work such as the grassroots campaign to bring the mastermind of the 1964 murders of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner to trial, passage of Mississippi's Senate Bill 2718, a law that mandates civil rights education to be taught in every public school in Mississippi, and the reconcilitation and healing work needed for communities affected by crime, poverty and differences. Leroy believes that in order to build a strong sustainable community, you have to make the case for the community's existence, build a base of support in the community, develop the leaders of the community and then take collective action to continue the harmonious growth of that community.
