Biography

Mechelle Wallace serves as Region II Sites Coordinator for EXCEL By 5 which is a Mississippi State, Early Childhood Institute Initiative which assist various Delta communities in becoming certified "Child-Friendly" Communities. Mechelle received a Master's of Science in Community Development from Delta State University in 2008. Mechelle serves as an Alderwomen for the Town of Alligator, MS, and is the lead coordinator for Alligator's Health and Wellness Project as well as the Bolivar County Communities Health Network. Mechelle enjoys working with communities in the Delta and serves as a Community Development Practitioner for the North Delta communities of Alligator, Duncan and Shelby, MS. She is the Founder and Director of Friends of the Environment, a small non-profit located in Alligator, MS. She is a member of the Rural Sociological Society, the Alabama Mississippi Sociological Association and the Community Development Society.
