Biography

Dr. Jaime Matus-Gardea is a Professor at the Center for Economics, Postgraduate College, in Mexico, where he has been since August 1979. He served as the Center’s Director from October 1982 to July 1989 and September 1992 to September 1994. Dr. Matus-Gardea has conducted numerous studies on agricultural policies and rural development in Mexico and has consulted for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Interamerican Institute for Cooperation Agriculture (IICA), the Organization of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the National Water Commission (CNA). He has also participated in the analysis of food systems, with site visits, India, Thailand, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Australia, Brazil and USA. He received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University in May 1981.
