Biography

Joseph Tiang-Yau Liu is a senior advisor for campaign strategy at AARP. AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, with a membership of more than 37 million, that helps people 50+ have independence, choice and control in ways that are beneficial to them and society as a whole. He serves as a political liaison and develops large scale public engagement efforts on issues such as health reform, Social Security, and Medicare. Prior to joining AARP, he was a strategy consultant with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Lewin Group and the Advisory Board Company helping foundations, hospitals, health systems, provider groups, and government agencies identify best practices, design new business models, and implement innovative policies. Earlier in his career, he was a public interest advocate for organizations such as the National Association of Community Health Centers, Children Now, the Children’s Defense Fund, and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Joe received his Master in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University.
