Dr. Herma Williams (KNFP-11) currently serves on the Fulbright Association Board of Directors and works with, among other groups, Peer Servants, a group of primarily volunteers who partner with indigenous, autonomous microfinance institutions in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

What I do: I serve on boards of organizations that strive to make a difference in the lives of fellow human beings; one of them being the Fulbright Association.

My motto (s): Mentor those that cross my path, teach them to mentor others. Given an opportunity, you need to share it and pass it on.

My favorite book: How to Change the World by David Bornstein.

My greatest achievement: Being able to connect with people who want to change the world and help them have a chance to do so.

My greatest extravagance: Opening a book and having the time to read it.

My favorite journey: Cape Town, South Africa. Nelson Mandela was released from prison and I was able to witness firsthand the power of change and the of seeds of freedom being planted.

Five people (living or dead) I want to have dinner with: Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, Malala Yousafzai and my father.

The person living today who most inspires me: President Barack Obama.

The reason I get up in the morning: To learn something from others and then having the opportunity to spread that knowledge.

My perfect day: A bright sun-shiny day where I can think and see beyond what is right in front of me.

The talent I wish I had: I wish I could double my energy. I also wish I had more hours in the day so I could do more to help others.

My best leadership advice: A person needs to be committed to think outside the box and then dare to act on it!.
