Biography

Lucia is an established leader who has spent more than 15 years organizing in communities in south New Mexico and along the U.S.-Mexico border. She strives to shine a light on issues that face families growing up in and around border communities. She works to create a space where collective leadership leads to solutions. As a musician, Lucia shares lessons about community through traditional songs and engages parents and families through her creativity. Lucia is a community engagement specialist with Ngage New Mexico (formerly the Institute of Community Engagement).
