Biography

Cristina Vázquez was born in Huixtan, State of Chiapas, Cristina belongs to the tzotzil ethnic group. Currently, she studies a BA in intercultural communication at the Intercultural University of the State of Chiapas. She collaborates in the civil association “Forum for Sustainable Development” in the area of gender and environment, installation of wood-saving stoves, and microcredit for entrepreneur women. She has been working with youth groups in the prevention of violence, management of community projects, and social training for the promotion of indigenous rights. In November 2010, Cristina participated in the “Learning Path Program” in Bogota Colombia, where she learned about property rights and social and entrepreneur projects. This program was sponsored by the International Fund for Agricultural Development in Colombia.
