Andriette Ward, M.D., M.P.H., is a pediatrician at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Previously, she was a clinical instructor in the hospital's Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She received a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She has a master’s degree in public health from UCLA. As a clinical researcher, Dr. Ward conducted community-based research among ethnic minority populations. Dr. Ward assisted on a National Institutes of Health-funded multidisciplinary trial to evaluate Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY). Dr. Ward also has collaborated with two commercially-available pediatric weight-management programs (Kids N Fitness and POWERPLAYMD) to assess their effectiveness for achieving initial and sustained weight loss among overweight pediatric patients. She also developed a pilot program to design and evaluate alternative strategies for the treatment of severely overweight adolescents. Dr. Ward is a member of several medical organizations, and serves on the board of the Association of Black Women Physicians.
