Biography

Since 2005, Crunkleton has served as a diplomat for the US State Department in Mexico, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Washington, D.C. She received a bachelor of arts degree in religion from Duke University, a master of arts degree in religion from Vanderbilt University, and a doctorate in philosophy of religion from Vanderbilt University. Before joining the US Department of State, Crunkleton was a professor at Bates College and at Pitzer College where she was the vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at both institutions. In addition, she was the executive director of the Institute for the Arts and Humanities, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
