Biography

Guillermo Barreto-Vega is the Executive Director of Tapalwas Foundation, Inc. in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Barreto has over 25 years of professional experience in the pursuit of economic development, program development and evaluation, resource development, and organizational development domestically and overseas. Mr. Barreto was formerly with the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, a national non-profit and a Kellogg Fellow in Africa, Mexico, and Central and South America. He was recruited by the United Nations Nicaragua Mission to assist in rebuilding the economy, conducted economic impact studies for the European Union in Nicaragua and developed hospital management tools for the World Bank and the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health. Additionally, Mr. Barreto consulted for the international non-profit Management Science for Health. He also functioned as a Resource and Planning Director for the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua and for the Kansas City Kansas Community College. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Masters in Economic Planning.
