Leaders need congruency between the internal and external self, asset based approach that looks at community.
The way I define leadership in my practice is through three basic concepts -
1. Clarity of Purpose
Making sure everyone is on the same page philosophically (mission, vision, values) and strategically (goals, priorities).
2. Alignment of Principles
Assuring that everyone on the team is personally aligned with the organization's purpose and operating principles (how we view diversity, accountability, service, success for example). With this in place, there will be a foundation of trust and unity.
3. Integration of Systems
Identifying strengths and weaknesses and assigning roles and responsibilities to accentuate those strengths. This also looks at proper sequencing so the work is coordinated and integrated.
While this may not be cutting edge, it makes sense for folks and it works.
